"Be of good cheer. Do not think of today's failures, but of the success that may come tomorrow. You have set yourself a difficult task, but you will succeed if you persevere; and you will find a joy in overcoming obstacles."
                    - Helen Keller

"The problems of deafness are deeper and more complex, if not more important, than those of blindness. Deafness is a much worse misfortune. For it means the loss of the most vital stimulus--the sound of the voice that brings language, sets thoughts astir and keeps us in the intellectual company of man."
                    -Helen Keller

                    EMPOWERMENT
                    Leadership, Mentoring and Advocacy

This is the place Kansas Deaf Women can find some helpful resources to enhance their self-esteem, self-worth, personal dreams and making a difference to others!

Women are the majority in our society. So it should come as no surprise that deaf women are a force to be reckoned with, with their own organizations, social services, and books!

                    GALLAUDET Program Empowers Deaf Women

                    Picture
Although deaf women have made significant contributions to the deaf community and society, they do not often make headlines. During the summer, a group of women take steps to change this trend during the Women's Leadership Development Program, a week-long professional studies course at Gallaudet. The group of women   of varying backgrounds, goals, and career experiences come together to discuss leadership styles and strategies, mentorship, and achieving their goals. This is a possible opportunity for a DWOZ member(s) to participate in in the near future!
